I work on Location in the Roseville, Rocklin, Granite Bay, Lincoln, and Auburn areas. I have no problem traveling to other areas in the Sacramento area for a travel fee of $25. We can pretty much shoot anywhere in these areas; a favorite park, your home or backyard, Folsom Lake, etc. The Sacramento Area offers many beautiful places to photograph!
In Home Studio
I have a small natural light studio in my home that I like to use for Maternity and Newborn Sessions. I have many props; baskets, blankets, antique items, hats, etc. We can have a lot of fun with these sessions.
Typically I like to get to know a little about you and your family before I start shooting. I find that this helps everyone to relax and warm up. With children, I like to really engage them in play, or get to know their interests so I can truly capture who they are. Children are so fun to watch, and many times we are so busy in our everyday lives that we don't notice the little things. For example, when a child looks for a ladybug in the tall grass, or feeds the ducks at the local park. These are things that we all take for granted and forget about when our children are grown and gone. That is my goal; to help you remember the innocence and wonder of this great time in your child's life.
Maternity sessions are basically whatever you feel comfortable with. You and your partner, just you, whatever you are looking for. They usually are done in the comfort of your own home or my in-home studio. I have lots of wraps available for these sessions.
Newborn sessions usually take a few hours. This is why I don't like to charge an hourly rate because I don't want the parents to be nervous if their new little one is not cooperating. Sometimes they may only take an hour; and sometimes they may take three. This session is totally up to the little one!! These are done in the comfort of my small in-home studio, or I can travel to you and bring everything that we would need. If you have other children, it usually is best for me to come to you so they are in the comfort of their own home while I am working with your new addition. I have diaper covers, wraps, hats, cocoons, and lots of blankets. Usually a naked baby is the best! I have wraps for mom too so we can get you cozy with your new little one! Don't forget to bring dad if he is up for it. I really like to get up close and intimate shots of your new family.
What Should I Wear?
As far as clothing is concerned, it is usually best to wear solid colors. Prints and loud clothing will just take away from the emotion and true meaning of the pictures. Black, White, Denim, and Khaki are all good neutral colors for the shoot. When it comes to children, I like to recommend colors that compliment the eyes. I do like bright colors for children; just remember to stay away from decals and prints, or character clothing. We will talk about this before our session.
My goal at every session is to capture real, raw emotion. The joy of being pregnant, the wonder of a new little one and happiness in the parents eyes, the innocence and playfulness of children. I don't just want to take pictures, I want to give you memories that you will cherish for a lifetime :)
